Bruins couldn’t catch up to Sens

Last night was a big game for the Bruins; ultimately it was a test to see what they could do at home against an Ottawa team that spanked them twice already this season in Ottawa. The Sens were winless in their last 4 games heading into Causeway and somehow they were the better team. The Bruins found themselves in a classic game of catch up. Senators struck first with a Tom Pyatt skate deflected goal. Krejci came back with a beautifully placed one timer from a sauced pass from Ryan Spooner. With 10 minutes left in the 1st period you almost thought this was the motivational push at home the Bruins needed for this one. Wrong.

Kyle Turris was the lone goal in the beginning of the 2nd period on a power play. This was a long period for hockey fans, a bunch of “Ahhh Shits”. Acciari had a sweet backhand that Ottawa goalie Anderson snagged out of midair; the entire building thought it was a 2-2 game, except for Anderson.

The 3rd period started with a 4 on 3 power play, Bruins with the man advantage. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it forever: TOREY KRUG IS A FORWARD. Less than a minute into the period Krug took the puck the length of the ice deked the defense and snapped a goal over the shoulder of Craig Anderson. Torey Krug is a great hockey player but he is not defensive NHL caliber, move him to the 3rd line and let him do things like this and take clappers from inside the circles.

Once again the Senators scored the go ahead goal on a hard shot-pass inside the slot from Dion Phaneuf and deflected goal for Kyle Turris. That made it 2 goals for Kyle Turris and quite possibly could’ve been a hat-trick if Pyatt didn’t deflect the first one, that puck was seeing the net either way. Both Goalies played great, this was just a game of tip top scoring material from both benches, overall great game to watch and disappointing loss for the boys.

The Bruins really needed this win to keep the 2nd and 3rd place barrier up. Now the Senators are chasing 1st place Montreal and The Leafs are right up our American ass. If Bruins remain in this 3rd slot and Sens chase 1st place we’re looking at a rowdy Canadians vs Bruins 1st round match-up.

And one more thing, Cassidy- Give It to Krug!
